Price-matching policies for Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and others

| Computer, Computers

Nothing is more frustrating than buying a new pair of headphones, an OLED, or a backpack just to find out that you could have gotten it for a lot cheaper somewhere else. In order to keep customers happy — and prevent them from going elsewhere — many retailers offer price-matching policies where they promise to match a lower price that you’ve found elsewhere. That’s information that could come in handy, especially given Black Friday is right around the corner and Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale kicks off on October 12th.

What follows are the price-matching policies for a variety of major retailers. There are a few things to make note of here. First, all price-matching policies have a number of rules attached to them. We’ve summarized some of the rules here, but you’d be advised to go to the links that we’ve provided and read the policy carefully. Second, and logically enough, retailers that serve as marketplaces for other sellers, such as Amazon or Costco, don’t have price-matching policies.

Finally, some retailers that do have price-matching policies suspend them for special occasions, such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Amazon Prime Day. But at other times of the year, these price matches can save you a nice amount of cash. So keep them in mind.

Another thing to keep in mind: there are exceptions to most rules. So if you’re looking for a deal on a product and you know of a lower price elsewhere (or one that was offered

Every high-quality ‘Rings of Power’ prop you can 3D print right now

| Computer, Computers

Amazon has given us, the makers of the world, a lot to play with in its new series, Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Based on the Second Age of Tolkien’s seminal works, it offers up some amazing armor and props that we haven’t seen before. With the advent of in-home 3D printingthese props can be ours to wield if we can either design them ourselves or, if we don’t have the skill to make them, find someone who does.

I have used some of the best 3D printers to create gorgeous props, including the broken sword from Rings of Power, but I was hungry for more. So I scoured the internet to find my favorite Rings of Power 3D models that you can print at home. All of these models are available to purchase and print at home and offer instructions on how best to do that.

If you are looking for a way to get more bang for your buck, consider following these creators on Patreon. For a few dollars a month you can access not just these models, but entire catalogs of amazing work.

One of the very first posters we saw of the TV series was this beautiful dagger. It is currently being held by Galadriel but seems to have been owned by her brother Finrod before his death. The intertwining silver and gold signify the two trees of Valinor that gave life to the world before the Sun and

Razer Edge Handheld Cloud-Gaming Handheld Headlines Razercon 2022

| Computer, Computers

Razer’s periodic fanfest, Razercon, is always good for a mix of product announcements, big and small. On the big front, the company has finally revealed its long-teased gaming handheld, the Razer Edge; smaller notable bits include a limited-edition environmentally-focused watch, a collapsible blue screen for streamers, bear and bunny buddies for the kitty-eared Kraken and more.

Razer first began to tease its new handheld gaming console almost a year ago, and like almost all Razer concepts, the final shipping product as revealed at Razercon is almost nothing like the company’s original vision — and definitely nothing like the company’s initial foray into portable gaming, the first Razer Edge in 2013.

The 2021 concept began as a Qualcomm-driven all-in-one device for cloud gaming and has evolved into a bundle of a Kishi V2 Pro controller (a step-up version of Razer’s Kishi V2 snap-on phone controller) with a 6.8-inch Razer Edge Android tablet, essentially the Razer Phone if it had continued to mature rather than stagnate in 2018. Though Razer hasn’t confirmed it will sell either piece separately post-launch, it’s more than likely. At the moment they’re treating the controller as a bundle with the tablet rather than the other way around.

There are two versions: the Razer Edge 5G and the Razer Edge. It’s a little confusing that the bundles are named The 5G model is available exclusively from Verizon; you can reserve Wi-Fi units at razer.com. The Wi-Fi bundle will cost $400, which is

We’re All in Luck: A USB-C iPhone Could Be Coming Globally

| Computer, Computers

The European Union has made its ruling: If Apple wants to sell new iPhones in the region, those devices will need to have a USB-C port before the end of 2024.

That means Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector, which has existed for more than a decade and established itself as a considerable money-maker for the tech giant, will need to be phased out of future iPhones. At least the ones going to the EU.

“We have no choice — as we do around the world, [Apple will] comply with local laws,” Greg JoswiakApple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said at a Wall Street Journal tech conference on Oct. 25 when asked if Apple will adhere to the EU’s common charging law.

“We think it would have been better environmentally and better for our customers to not have a government be that prescriptive.”

While the legislation technically only applies to consumer electronics sold within the European Union, Apple may be forced to decide on the fate of the Lightning port for iPhones bound for overseas. Most commercial phones charge and connect to accessories using the USB-C standard, but iPhones don’t. Could this mean future iPhones sold outside the European Union will also transition to a USB-C charging port? Or will Apple make hardware changes by geography: Producing two iPhone variants to accommodate USB-C and Lightning — one for the EU and the other for the rest of the world?

Apple has modified iPhone models regionally, as it has done
