UFC 281 is here, the last truly mega UFC card of 2022. This is not a PPV you can afford to miss.

At the top of the card is Israel Adesanya. One of the UFC’s biggest stars, he defends his UFC middleweight title against a surging Alex Pereira. This time round, the normally unbeatable Adesanya could have a minor chink in his armor. Adesanya, currently unbeaten at middleweight, has been defeated not once, but twice by Pereira in kickboxing matchups.

But this isn’t kickboxing, it’s mixed martial arts. And Adesanya’s kickboxing bouts with Pereira come with caveats. In the first match, Pereira was gifted a decision many thought Adesanya won. In the second fight, Adesanya was winning clearly before being brutally knocked out by a brutal, clinical hook.

Regardless of how this plays out, for the first time in a long time, there’s an element of drama to an Adesanya main event.

And outside that fight, UFC 281 is stacked. We’ve got a second title fight featuring Carla Esparza vs. Zhang Wei. Esparza recently won the UFC strawweight title against Rose Namajunas in one of the worst fights I’ve ever witnessed, but this contest will almost certainly be different. Look for Zhang Weili to go full beserker mode here. I expect Esparza could get steamrolled.

Outside of that we’ve got a certified banger in Dustin Poirier vs. Michael Chandler. The legendary Frankie Edgar also has his retirement match against Chris Gutierrez.

Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira

The dominant Astros are one win away from the World Series. In the American League Championship Series Houston shut out the New York Yankees 5-0 on Saturday to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. For today’s Game 5 in the Bronx, the Yankees’ hopes rely on the left arm of starter Nestor Cortez, while the Astros turn to righty Lance McCullers. Houston hasn’t lost yet in the playoffs and another win sends them to the World Series for the fourth time in six years. Game 4 of the ALCS between the Yankees and Astros is scheduled for 7:07 pm ET (4:07 pm PT) on TBS.

Xiaomi’s new concept phone allows a full size Leica camera lens to be attached to the back of a prototype version of its 12S Ultra. The version of the smartphone released earlier this year is already notable for having a 1-inch-type camera sensor on its rear, which is far larger than those typically used in phones and more in line with what you might find in a compact standalone camera . Xiaomi’s new concept gives it both a secondary 1-inch sensor, as well as a full size lens to match.

In a teaser trailer, Xiaomi shows how the concept is designed to work with lenses in Leica’s M-series lineup. The Chinese tech giant previously collaborated with Leica to co-develop the camera system used in the 12S Ultra, which GSMArena reports included working together on the design of its optics. But it says stepping up to a full-size camera lens turns the smartphone into a “professional photo-making tool” offering benefits like “authentic depth of field” rather than the software-based background blurring features found in most smartphones.

It’s an interesting concept. Smartphone cameras have made huge strides in recent years by embracing computational photography to overcome their relatively modest sensor and lens hardware. That raises the question of what results you could get from combining the AI ​​photography smarts of a flagship smartphone, with the hardware of a standalone mirrorless camera. Xiaomi’s concept follows in the footsteps of accessories like Hasselblad’s MotoMod attachment for the Moto Z.

After several delays, Kerbal Space Program 2 is finally entering early access on February 24th, 2023. Developer Intercept Games initially announced that it was working on KSP2 back in 2019, but only revealed the early access release date for the Kerbal Space Program sequel last week, outlining its expectations in a roadmap leading up to the eventual 1.0 release. KSP2 is currently available to wishlist on Steam and will also be available on the Epic Games Store for $49.99.

The original Kerbal Space Program is a brutal, rewarding, and occasionally hilarious simulation of the complexities of space flight that allows you to construct your own rockets, shuttles, rovers, and other interstellar vehicles. All manned by the ambitious Kerbals, little green people whose unbridled enthusiasm towards space flight adds some much-needed levity to your failures.

While a big part of the KSP experience centers around experimentation and getting things wrong, Intercept Games recognizes some of the pain points of the original KSP, and is working to smooth over some of its rougher parts with the sequel. Currently, with the upcoming early access release, players can expect a drastically improved user experience with a revamped UI, in addition to a new catalog of parts to experiment with, and perhaps most importantly, new tutorials and onboarding systems to get new players up to speed.

It’s no secret that Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is a superb piece of cinema. Not only did it scoop the best picture Oscar in 2019, it catapulted viewers over the 1-inch subtitle barrier into a treasure trove of South Korean films.

On that same glowing pile sits another impeccable South Korean flick: 2020’s The Call. Released on Netflix, The Call shares the same Oscar-nominated editor as Parasite: Yang Jin-mo. If you like your storytelling efficient, unique and wrought with suspense, The Call will generously provide.

The Call is set in rural Korea, where 28-year-old Kim Seo-yeon makes the trip home to visit her estranged, sick mother. Crucially, she loses her phone on the train journey over. This fatal error sees her forced to use a cordless phone. After one fateful phone call, a true nightmare unfurls.

Seo-yeon interacts with another 28-year-old woman — Oh Young-sook — who cries for help from her own “crazy” mother. The trailer-advertised reveal: Both women are in the same house, but from different times. One is in 2019, the other in 1999. Cue awesome ’90s Korean grunge music.

With this strange connection, Seo-yeon in the present timeline is enticed to tinker with the unfortunate events in her past. The only catch is this on her friendship with the other woman on the line, whose circumstances might be far more hellish than her own.
