The World Series favorite Los Angeles Dodgers roared through the 2022 regular season, winning a franchise-record 111 games. When the division rival San Diego Padres acquired superstar Juan Soto at the trade deadline, Padres owner Peter Seidler called the Dodgers “the dragon up the freeway that we’re trying to slay.” San Diego took game 3 of the NLDS Friday 2-1, and now a win at home today would indeed slay LA. The Dodgers will send Tyler Anderson to the mound against the Padres’ Joe Musgrove. Game 4 starts today at 6:37 pm PT (9:37 pm ET) on FS1.

The Padres beat the Mets in their Wild Card series to advance to the Division Series against the Dodgers. The Dodgers won the NL West and have home-field advantage in the five-game Division Series and the rest of the postseason. The winner advances to the National League Championship Series to play the winner of the Phillies-Braves series.

It’s always the right time to watch horror movies, but it just feels better at Halloween. October is made for warm drinks, cozy sweaters, and jump scares. And there is no shortage of classic films (and shows!) to dig into during this time of the year. But that means the new stuff can often be overlooked — which is a shame because this year in particular featured a handful of interesting additions to the spooky season canon, from family-friendly stop-motion to much more disturbing horror anthologies. Here are six recent releases across Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Plus to watch after the trick-or-treating is done.

Though it’s only coming out just now, Wendell & Wild still manages to feel like a classic piece of the spooky canon of [Henry] Selick films that many of us grew up loving, one that will become part of the Halloween rotation for years to come.

Cabinet of Curiosities is definitely something that will appeal to fans of del Toro’s work. But it also expands beyond those horizons with a collection of very different takes on horror. It’s what I imagine wandering around Bleak House would be like: a glimpse into del Toro’s mind through the work that inspires him.

The Midnight Club… is clearly part of this [Mike Flanagan] anthology series but differentiates itself by playing like a collection of fireside ghost stories. It’s a little uneven, but when it works, it channels the best parts of [The Haunting of] Hill House.

The women are carrying the load at WWE Extreme Rules. This Saturday’s pay-per-view features two championship bouts, both of them for women’s titles. In what may be the main event, Ronda Rousey challenges for Liv Morgan’s SmackDown Women’s Championship in an Extreme Rules match. Bianca Belair, henceforth, is putting up her Raw Women’s Championship in a Ladder Match against Bayley.

Extreme Rules is short on star power — the absence of Roman Reigns and the entire Bloodline is felt — but looks to be a solid show. Edge and Finn Balor should be terrific, as should Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle’s date in the Fight Pit. Sheamus and Gunther had a classic at Clash at the Castle, so the six-man street fight between them and their respective factions should be wild too.

Perhaps what most people are interested in at Extreme Rules is the return of Bray Wyatt. It’s not been advertised, but WWE has been playing a subtle game of hinting at The Fiend’s return at Extreme Rules. It could be nothing, it could be a swerve, or it could be big. We’ll find out Saturday.
