Belkin’s iPhone Mount with MagSafe for Mac Notebooks has a bad name but is a very good accessory. It lets you clip your iPhone onto your laptop so you can make use of macOS Ventura and iOS 16’s Continuity Camera feature, which turns your phone into a webcam that absolutely crushes pretty much anything that’s built into MacBooks these days. And if that was all it did, I’d still be happy with it — but its design and features are what truly make it worth considering, even though there’s already a flood of other accessories meant to do the same job.

Using the mount to turn your phone into a webcam is easy: you magnetically snap it on, flip out a little foot with Belkin’s logo on it, and rest it on top of your computer. Then you just choose your iPhone as the camera in whatever video chat app you’re using. It’s a pretty simple mechanism that works well, and because the mount is circular, you can attach your phone in either portrait or landscape mode.

Everything was looking overwhelmingly grim for Laenor Velaryon in episode 7 of House of the Dragon. But in a surprise end twist, Rhaenyra Targaryen’s husband took a more fortunate path. The exact steps to this point weren’t totally clear, although in hindsight they were foreshadowed in a couple of conversations beforehand.

Let’s discuss the exact details of what happened in the spoiler-packed section below.

Was the plan all along for Laenor to escape?

Initially, several signs pointed to Daemon really wanting to have Laenor killed.

In their conversation at Driftmark’s port, Daemon and Rhaenyra agree that in order to be wed to each other, Laenor has to be out of the picture. “We could not marry unless Laenor were dead,” says Daemon, to which Rhaenyra responds, “I know.” It seemed as though Rhaenyra was willing to betray Laenor, despite Laenor saying he would fully commit to her, what with his lover Ser Qarl returning to the fighting in the Stepstones.

Before Rhaenyra says anything else, we cut to Daemon apparently making plans with Ser Qarl, a “knight of remarkable skill,” to murder Laenor. While Ser Qarl says Ser Laenor has been “kind” to him, it isn’t 100% clear that Qarl is loyal to Laenor. Daemon appears to be flirty with Qarl, stepping right into his personal space. Qarl might just betray Laenor in exchange for enough gold to start a new life across the Narrow Sea.

The thumbs-up emoji has long been one of my go-to responses. It’s simple. It’s versatile. It’s friendly. Or so I thought until a Daily Mail headline jolted me out of my emoji-happy stupor this week. “Why NOBODY should be using the ‘thumbs up’ emoji in 2022,” the publication blares.

Cut to me making the kind of expression you see on the confused emoji:
