Like most streamers, HBO Max has a wide range of sci-fi series, including originals, older titles and excellent international offerings. What sets the HBO originals apart is a stamp of quality marked “prestige TV.” Station Eleven is the prime example of a prestige show. With long episode times, high production values and a great Metacritic score (81), the unconventional post-apocalyptic series is the epitome and the pinnacle of HBO Max’s sci-fi offerings.

Sadly, you might notice a couple of titles disappearing from HBO Max, including Snowpiercer. Plus, Made For Love was canceled after season 2. This all comes in the wake of the Warner Bros. and Discovery mergers. Here’s more on what that means.

While it’s 90% a superhero show, Peacemaker features visitors from another planet, so it lands itself a spot on this list. The Suicide Squad spinoff series centers on the titular Peacemaker, an outrageous John Cena who explores where his catchphrase — “I cherish peace with all of my heart. I don’t care how many men, women and children I kill to get it” — came from. Sweary, bloody and bounce to a rocking soundtrack, the James Gunn-written series is a rolling time with surprising heart.

The Try Guys Drama With Ned Fulmer Gets the SNL Treatment

Been following the whole Try Guys situation with Ned Fulmer? So have Saturday Night Live writers, who apparently think the drama that’s befallen the popular YouTube prankster group and their former fellow members have crossed into melodrama terrain.

A skit from Saturday’s episode parodies a video in which the three remaining members of The Try Guys respond to former fellow Try Guy Fulmer being asked to leave the team after getting caught cheating on his wife with an employee.

The Try Guys — who have 8 million subscribers on YouTube — are so named for filming wacky stunts like trying on celebrity lingerie, drawing nude self-portraits and getting extremely stoned. Their actual video response to Fulmer being let go was intense, with a somber, emotional Keith Habersberger, Eugene Lee Yang and Zach Kornfeld going into more detail about the initial incident, the internal review involving HR and legal teams and the process that led to the departures.

In that video, posted earlier this week, the trio shares that Fulmer is being digitally excised from videos and removed from Try Guys merchandise. “We can’t talk about the details of the review, but suffice to say that Ned had engaged in conduct unbecoming of our team,” Habersberger says.

For some, Amazon Music’s big Prime expansion comes with big frustrations

This week, Amazon announced that it would open up its entire catalog of streaming music to Prime subscribers instead of the limited, downsized library they’d previously had access to. The number skyrocketed from 2 million songs up to 100 million. On its face, that sounds like great news. Who wouldn’t want more songs without spending anything extra on top of their Prime subscription? Normally, you’d need to pay separately for Amazon Music Unlimited to get the same enormous selection.

But it turns out there are people who are very angry about the changes that Amazon made in the course of beefing up its catalog for Prime customers. As a total, lifelong music geek, I can relate to anyone freaking out because a service they were familiar with suddenly revised the rules and started working differently than it did just days earlier. In this case, Amazon has made significant changes to the Prime tier of Amazon Music several years after subscribers had grown accustomed to its benefits.

Not everyone’s disappointed. I’ve read many “this is great” responses across social media from those who tend to use Amazon Music for background music or casual listening. A ton of people ask Alexa to hear a certain artist on their Echo speaker, often caring little about whatever song might come up.

Tuesday Will Bring a ‘Blood Moon’ Total Lunar Eclipse: How to See It

A “blood moon” total lunar eclipse will be visible in the US on Election Day this Tuesday. It’s difficult to tell at this point whether that’s a foreboding omen or a sign of providence.

Skywatchers in parts of Europe and Asia got to see a partial solar eclipse last month, but that was just the first half of “eclipse season,” which concludes with the Nov. 8 eclipse that will be visible from North America.

The four seasons, as you likely know, have to do with the tilt of the Earth on its axis and the Northern and Southern Hemispheres’ orientation toward the sun. But eclipse seasons have to do with where the moon lines up between Earth and the sun.

Every 173 days, for a little over a month, our big natural satellite passes through the ecliptic, or the path the sun takes through our daytime sky.

“The moon doesn’t orbit in the exact same plane as the sun and Earth do,” NASA explains on its solar system blog. “The time when they are aligned is known as eclipse season, which happens twice a year.”

During an eclipse season, the moon is basically buzzing around between us and the sun, upping the chances it will pass between our planet and the neighborhood star for a solar eclipse or that the Earth will block out the moon for a lunar eclipse. Eclipse seasons typically generate two or three eclipses in less than a 37-day span.

‘Andor’ Release Schedule: When Will Episode 10 Drop on Disney Plus?

The galaxy far, far away is ever-expanding on Disney Plus. The latest Star Wars show to unfold on the streaming service is Andoran excellent prequel story that happens five years before the events of Rogue One.

Nine of the 12 episodes are available now, and we’ll get one episode each Wednesday until Nov. 23.

Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor, who plays a vital role as a spy in the early days of the Rebel Alliance against the totalitarian Galactic Empire. You can also stream composer Nicholas Britell’s moody soundtrack for the early episodes.

Here’s the full schedule for Andor on Disney Plus, as confirmed by the official Star Wars Twitter account. New episodes generally drop at midnight PT (3 am ET/8 am GMT/5 pm AEST).

Is there a trailer?

Lucasfilm gave us several trailers ahead of the show’s release, with the latest coming at parent company Disney’s D23 Expo in early September. You can also check out a 9-minute preview (mostly scenes from episode 3) in Disney Plus.

Will Andor get a second season?

It sure will. Creator Tony Gilroy confirmed at May’s Star Wars Celebration Anaheim that the show will return for a 12-episode second season that leads directly into Rogue One. It’s unclear when season 2 will air, but it’ll probably hit Disney Plus in 2023 or 2024. Expect to hear more at Star Wars Celebration Europe next April.
