Where’s the bad guy in Rings of Power? Everybody knows the big bad in Middle-earth, at least after The First Age, is Sauron. So when you’re watching a new show exploring Middle-earth in The Second Age, and there’s only one episode left, it’s time to start asking questions. Where is Sauron, and why haven’t we seen him yet? Or have we seen him, but in disguise as another character?

Here’s a quick look at everything we know so far, and some fun speculation about what may be in store for The Rings of Power.

Who is Sauron in The Rings of Power?

At the moment, we have no idea who Sauron is in The Rings of Power. There is no credit for Sauron, no actor who has been announced as playing Sauron, and the only time we’ve seen Sauron on screen was the beginning of the first episode in a look at the past. According to JRR Tolkien, Sauron is more or less in hiding at this point as he builds up strength and hatches a plan to take over the world.

We don’t know where Sauron is right this second, but we know where he’s been. In episode 6, the Uruk known as Adar confirms Galadriel’s suspicion that Sauron had originally escaped to the far north so he could experiment on accessing a place called The Unseen World but was unsuccessful. Adar claims to have attacked Sauron and escaped, but we know he’s still alive somewhere.

There’s just one kind of cat veterinarian Ben Simpson-Vernon would bring into his own family. Simpson-Vernon, known as Ben the Vet on TikTok, has made popular videos about the five breeds of dog he would and wouldn’t getand one about the four cat breeds he’d avoid. So his newest video, about the type of cat he would get, was inevitable — and should prove satisfying to many who have cat.

“There’s just one,” Simpson-Vernon says. “I would just get a domestic shorthair, otherwise known as a moggy — just your regular, standard, garden variety cat. They’re the cat’s equivalent of a mutt, or a mongrel, so on average they’re going to be less inbred than your average pedigreed cat. And they’re just as lovely.”

(“Moggy,” or “moggie,” is a term used in Britain for a regular, non-pedigreed cat, and really, we Americans need to borrow that word.)

Simpson-Vernon also spoke about the importance of getting cats neutered (or, presumably, spayed) so they don’t have kittens and contribute to the problem of so many cats needing homes. He also showed a photo of himself with some rescue cats he recently checked over for a charity, noting that the cute cats in the photo have all found homes.

I was unreasonably excited to play the follow-up to PC Building Simulator. The original game taught me the finer points of building a PC and married the technical aspects with all the logistical drudgery of running your own business. Unfortunately, PC Building Simulator 2 doubles down on some of the more bothersome aspects while only adding a small handful of shallow features.

As with many simulator games, PCBS2 is about appreciating the mundane. Ordinary people don’t obsess over the differences between an NVMe SSD or a 2.5-inch hard drive or fine-tuning the voltage on a GPU, but these are the details that PC-building enthusiasts crave.

Like the original game, PCBS2 has you taking charge of a run-down computer repair shop. You start with a small sum of money and a handful of jobs delivered via email. If you haven’t played the original game, PCBS2 might seem a bit surreal, as you need to walk your character over to an in-game computer to access your email and other applications. thankfully a helpful tutorial walks you through the process step-by-step.

With so many highly anticipated holiday 2022 games delayed until next year, there are really only a handful of big releases this season. That short list includes God of War: Ragnarok, Gotham Knights and the latest installment in one of gaming’s longest-running franchises, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Of these, Modern Warfare 2 is the most likely to wow graphics fans, especially running on a high-powered gaming PC. If you’ve got a budget gaming laptop, you should still be able to run the game, but it won’t look nearly as nice. If you have a laptop or desktop without a discrete graphics card from Nvidia or AMD, there’s no chance. You should stick to the console version, as the game is also available on the PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

Activision actually lists four different sets of specs to consider for PC players. They include the usual minimum and recommended specs, but also a separate set for competitive gamers (online multiplayer) and another set specifically for 4K gaming.

The final moments of the opening ceremonies for the 2022 League of Legends World Championship featured star performer Lil Nas X seemingly lifted into the air by the hand of a giant mech while a championship trophy floated around him. It was an impressive display of artistic vision and technical expertise — and it’s also the reason Carrie Dunn, creative director for Riot esports, has been a little stressed of late. “Any time you hoist a cultural superstar in the air for your finale,” she says, “there’s anxiety in that.”

Worlds is the highlight of League‘s competitive calendar, with the finals pitting two teams against each other who have worked all year for a chance at the trophy. This year’s edition featured the return of the legendary Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok — known by the incredible nickname the “unkillable demon king” — and his team T1 facing off against fellow Korean side DRX. But as appealing as the actual games are, often, the opening ceremony steals the show.
