After suffering a thumb injury that required surgery in week 1, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott expects to return this Sunday at home against the Detroit Lions. Dallas will gladly welcome back its starting QB as it tries to keep pace in the NFC East with the 6-0 Eagles and 5-1 Giants. While getting Prescott back is a boon for the Cowboys, their best player plays on defense, linebacker Micah Parsons, has been a one-man wrecking crew and will have his sights set on getting to Lions quarterback Jared Goff, a man not known for his mobility. The Lions and Cowboys kick off in Dallas at 1 pm ET (12 pm CT/10 am PT) on CBS.

The game will be shown on CBS in the Detroit and Dallas areas (according to 506 Sports) on live TV streaming services, but there may be cases where you’re blocked because of an internet location glitch or just want an added layer of privacy for streaming. There’s an option that doesn’t require subscribing to something like NFL Sunday Ticket or NFL Plusor searching the internet for a sketchy website: a virtual private network, or VPN.

Windows 11 tests third-party widgets and new Teams calling feature

Microsoft is rolling out support for third-party widget development and new video calling functions for Chat from Microsoft Teams in its latest developer build of Windows 11. The new features in Preview Build 25217 are available for folks enrolled in the Windows Insider program.

Now, developers can create and test widgets that can be added to the Windows 11 widgets panel. New third-party widgets can only be tested locally on the latest Insider Preview build for now, but can later appear in the Microsoft Store for the shipping version of their apps once the build is formally released to the public. Microsoft says that Widgets can only be created for packaged Win32 apps at this time, but support for Progressive Web App (PWA) Widgets is planned as part of Microsoft Edge 108.

The Insider preview also includes a sneak peek (for a limited group of Insiders) at a new video calling experience for Chat from Microsoft Teams on Windows 11. When you open Chat from the taskbar, you’ll soon be able to see a preview of your own video feed, allowing you to fix your appearance or spot any background issues before starting a call. Microsoft hopes to make this experience more broadly available in the coming months, but a ‘small subset of users’ will already have access to the feature as part of a sneak preview release. Rolls-Royce announces the 2024 Specter electric ‘super coupe’ with 260 miles of range

Rolls-Royce revealed its first all-electric vehicle, the 2024 Specter, an ultra-luxury coupe with an estimated 260 miles of range and a price tag that is sure to make even the wealthiest choke on their tea. For those who can afford it, the Specter is expected to make its first customer deliveries starting in late 2023.

The Specter marks the first step toward a fully electrified Rolls-Royce lineup, which the company has said it will achieve by 2030. That stands in contrast to the company’s parent company, BMW, which has yet to declare when it expects to transition to 100 percent EV sales. (Mini, another BMW-owned brand, has also said it would be all-electric by the end of the decade.)

In some respects, the Specter is not unlike other luxury coupes from Rolls-Royce: long hood, sleek roofline, pillarless doors — all familiar designs. But a quick glance under the surface reveals the Specter to be unique among the storied British automaker’s lineup thanks to its lithium-ion battery-powered architecture.

But this is more of a design announcement than a full accounting of the Specter’s underlying power train. Rolls-Royce says that most of the relevant specifications, including range, acceleration, and battery capacity, are still “being refined” and that more details will emerge at a later date.

After ignoring the app experience on Android tablets for years, Google appears increasing focused on turning things around. Earlier this year, the search giant introduced Android 12L, which brought an improved interface and multitasking experience to tablets and foldable. At the developer conference Google IO in May, it promised to finetune over 20 of its own apps for the tablet experience. Now the search giant is beginning to deliver on that pledge, starting with the Chrome browser.

Google has rolled out an update to Chrome for Android tablets that introduces new features such as a side-by-side view for improved tab navigation and the ability to drag and drop information out of Chrome.

The side-by-side view will help users navigate between tabs by swiping across the address bar (as shown in the gif below). This is helpful when you can’t really read tab names in settings such as split-screen.

The drag-and-drop functionality allows users to move around links, images and text from Chrome to apps such as Gmail, Keep and Photos. Watch it in action in the gif below.
