Episode 8 of House of the Dragon introduced another jump forward in time — six years to be exact. Now, King Viserys seems to be the walking dead, Rhaenyra and Daemon are happily coupled and making babies, and Alicent and the Hightowers have made their mark on King’s Landing, introducing religion in a big way.

But that final scene was the big kicker: King Viserys unintentionally discussed the Targaryen’s important family secret — with the wrong person. Let’s discuss what that could mean going forward in the spoiler-packed section below.

What exactly is the Prophecy?

All the way back in episode 1, King Viserys passes onto his daughter Princess Rhaenyra a family secret — a doomsday prophecy telling of the end of men. Let’s break down what Viserys says:

“Our histories… they tell us that Aegon looked across the Blackwater from Dragonstone, and saw a rich land ripe for the capture. But ambition alone is not what drove him to conquest. It was a dream. And just as Daenys foresaw the end of Valyria, Aegon foresaw the end of the world of men.”

Aegon refers to Aegon the Conqueror, the first Lord of the Seven Kingdoms in Westeros. He was the founder of the Targaryens’ ruling dynasty over Westeros but, as his Prophecy reveals, he also wanted to unify the land against a common enemy. The world’s biggest operational rocket provided an extra treat on Nov. 1, the morning after Halloween, with the first Falcon Heavy launch since 2019 blasting off under a still spooky blanket of fog from Florida’s Cape Canaveral.

Less than 10 minutes after liftoff, the rocket’s side boosters returned for a successful, near simultaneous landing not far from the launch pad. The central core booster was disposed of in the ocean after sending a classified payload on its way to orbit for the US Space Force.

The Falcon Heavy mission dubbed USSF 44 launched from pad 39-A at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center at 9:43 am ET (6:43 am PT) carrying a military micro-satellite prototype called TETRA-1 and a larger, unconfirmed satellite.

The mission was originally planned for 2020, but undisclosed payload issues have delayed it multiple times.

Not long after SpaceX’s big triple rocket got off the ground for the first time in 2018, it seemed to get forgotten in the hype around Elon Musk’s even bigger Starship rocket and its companion Super Heavy booster, which NASA hopes will return astronauts to the moon and which Musk dreams of using to build a society on Mars.

But the most muscle in the SpaceX garage that’s actually made it to space is still the Falcon Heavy. Its first flight sent a Tesla toward the red planet in 2018. It flew two more times, both in 2019.

Falcon Heavy is essentially three Falcon 9 boosters strapped together for three times the thrust.

While NASA eyes a planned launch of its first big Artemis moon mission early Wednesday, a tiny cubesat has officially arrived at the moon to serve as a pathfinder for the upcoming stages of the agency’s lunar program.

Capstoneshort for the Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations and Navigation Experiment, is the size of a microwave oven and designed to circle the moon via an eccentric elliptical orbit (formally known as a near rectilinear halo orbit) that’s never been flown by a spacecraft before .

Capstone is checking out the route in advance of NASA’s plans to build a space station dubbed Gateway to ply the same orbit. The Gateway will be a waypoint for astronauts in the Artemis program, designed to get humans back on the moon, and it will house equipment and supplies for trips to the lunar surface.

The small satellite performed its initial orbit insertion maneuver, firing its thrusters at 4:39 pm PT Sunday to enter the special orbital path, which will allow it to circle the moon along a very fuel efficient route, relying instead on the gravitational pulls of the moon and Earth to stay on course.

Now a well-known leaker says the “unlaunched” GPU will return as the RTX 4070 Ti in January, as Nvidia attempts to fix the confusing naming around two RTX 4080 cards that had totally different specs.

Twitter user kopite7kimi says “the original RTX 4080 12GB will become RTX 4070 Ti instead,” and replied to questions on a January 2023 release date with a thumbs up. Kopite7kimi previously correctly predicted the specifications of the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080, and that the RTX 4090 would require 450 watts of power.

A return of the 12GB RTX 4080 renamed to the RTX 4070 Ti would make a lot of sense. Nvidia has been criticized heavily for labeling the 12GB model as an RTX 4080, particularly when the 16GB model was so different. The RTX 4080 12GB was supposed to start at $899 and include 7,680 CUDA Cores, a 2.31GHz base clock that boosts up to 2.61GHz, 639 Tensor-TFLOPs, 92 RT-TFLOPs, and 40 Shader-TFLOPs. The 16GB RTX 4080 is much more powerful, with 9,728 CUDA Cores, a base clock of 2.21GHz that boosts up to 2.51GHz, 780 Tensor-TFLOPs, 113 RT-TFLOPs, and 49 Shader-TFLOPs of power.

Now the attention will turn to pricing, particularly as AMD’s next-gen RX 7900 XTX and XT GPUs start at $899 and will launch on December 13th. It’s hard to imagine Nvidia launching a $899 RTX 4070 Ti
