It can be tough to find quality sci-fi movies on Netflix. Movies like these, especially older classics, tend to be buried beneath the algorithms. That’s where we came in.

We wanted to highlight a few of the best sci-fi gems on the service — like Synchronic — alongside established classics like Men in Black and Starship Troopers. There are also a few newer movies in here like Spiderhead.

All up, there’s a decent amount to watch if you’re a sci-fi fans. Get stuck in.

The Platform is a Spanish sci-fi horror flick with a gruesome high concept. Prisoners in a correctional facility are fed in a very unique way: Folks at the top floor get fed a ludicrous amount of food, folks below get their leftovers. Chaos ensues.

It’s not perfect, but still well worth watching.

Blade Runner: The Final Cut (1982)

Is there a more critically revered science fiction movie than Blade Runner? If there is, I can’t think of it. Maybe the original Alien or The Thing?

Either way, neither of them is currently on Netflix, so Blade Runner is probably the must watch sci-fi movie on the service.

Spiderhead is the latest movie from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski, and also stars Miles Teller, who features in that same movie.

From hardcore racing sims to arcade-y kart racers, the racing genre is full of incredible games. One of the best platforms for racing games is Xbox, boasting a slew of titles from franchises like Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon and more. For someone on the outside, all racing games may look the same, but seasoned speedsters can tell the difference between a game that feels authentic to its vehicles and a game that struggles to sputter across the finish line.

Hardcore racing sims emulate what it’s like to drive the fastest cars on the planet, allowing you to tinker with their engines. There are also your arcade-hybrids, which have you driving real cars in often gorgeous and always extravagant environments. And then there are your arcade racers, which defy physics with outlandish vehicles and effects. From there, the list goes on and on and on. That’s why I’m here to make it easy for you and recommend some of the best Xbox racing games out there.

This list is by no means exhaustive, rather it’s a collection of just the best driving and racing games for the Xbox family of consoles that I’ve personally played and enjoyed. I’ve played all of these games on the newest Xbox Series Xbut all of them are also playable on the Xbox Series S and are backward-compatible with the previous Xbox One generation consoles. It’s a widely understood fact of life that not everything turns out the way you’d expect. No one knows this better, perhaps, than contestants on the popular competition show The Great British Bake Off, known in the US as The Great British Baking Show. Every week, they take a dramatic, sugar-filled journey across the uncertain and sometimes tumultuous expansion between what they planned to bake and how it turned out.

Cake sink. Buttercream icing splits. Isomalt shatters. Occasionally, someone forgets to turn on the oven, losing valuable time. But even if the sponge is “claggy” or “stodgy” (or god forbid, ends up on the floor before it makes it to a judge’s plate), there’s a perfectly executed version of the creation that viewers at home can ooh and aah at anyway.

That’s thanks to Tom Hovey, whose appetite-triggering illustrations have become a signature element of the show over the years. They’re presented on screen in a digital notebook on a mock worktop, as if the bakers had sketched them themselves.

“That points to why the illustrations are sometimes, a lot of the times, better than what it turns out in the tent, because it’s what they intended to create, not what they actually created,” Hovey said via Zoom from his studio in Newport , South Wales. GBBO’s 13th season is halfway through on Netflix. It’s already seen structurally questionable masks made of cookies; black pudding on pizza; and a coconut sponge that tasted “a bit like tanning lotion.”

Microsoft is rolling out support for third-party widget development and new video calling functions for Chat from Microsoft Teams in its latest developer build of Windows 11. The new features in Preview Build 25217 are available for folks enrolled in the Windows Insider program.

Now, developers can create and test widgets that can be added to the Windows 11 widgets panel. New third-party widgets can only be tested locally on the latest Insider Preview build for now, but can later appear in the Microsoft Store for the shipping version of their apps once the build is formally released to the public. Microsoft says that Widgets can only be created for packaged Win32 apps at this time, but support for Progressive Web App (PWA) Widgets is planned as part of Microsoft Edge 108.

The Insider preview also includes a sneak peek (for a limited group of Insiders) at a new video calling experience for Chat from Microsoft Teams on Windows 11. When you open Chat from the taskbar, you’ll soon be able to see a preview of your own video feed, allowing you to fix your appearance or spot any background issues before starting a call. Microsoft hopes to make this experience more broadly available in the coming months, but a ‘small subset of users’ will already have access to the feature as part of a sneak preview release. After ignoring the app experience on Android tablets for years, Google appears increasing focused on turning things around. Earlier this year, the search giant introduced Android 12L, which brought an improved interface and multitasking experience to tablets and foldable. At the developer conference Google IO in May, it promised to finetune over 20 of its own apps for the tablet experience. Now the search giant is beginning to deliver on that pledge, starting with the Chrome browser.

Google has rolled out an update to Chrome for Android tablets that introduces new features such as a side-by-side view for improved tab navigation and the ability to drag and drop information out of Chrome.

The side-by-side view will help users navigate between tabs by swiping across the address bar (as shown in the gif below). This is helpful when you can’t really read tab names in settings such as split-screen.
