Over the last year or two we’ve been making TV and movie recommendations. It’s been fun! choosing our favorite show on Netflixor the best sci-fi series on Prime Video. Most of the time it’s relatively easy to pick our favorites.

But when it was suggested I write about the “best documentary on Netflix” I began sweating. immediately. I maintain CNET’s list of best documentaries. I watch almost every documentary on the service as soon as they’re released.

Netflix has a lot of good documentaries.

I’d argue documentaries are the best thing about Netflix, period. There’s genre-defining true-crime series like Making a Murderer, Oscar-winning movies like Icarus, incredible nature docos like Our Planet. That’s before we even mention viral hits like Tiger King or Drive to Survive.

It’s almost impossible to choose just one.

But the nature of our recommendations at CNET is to choose something audiences might have missed, or something underrated. That’s why we tend to call out shows like Dark or For All Mankind on Apple TV Plus over established classics like Stranger Things.

So in that spirit, I am selecting Untold as my pick for best documentary series on Netflix. Because it’s rules. It rules so goddamn much.

Adobe’s Lightroom software uses new AI technology to select objects, people, clothing and facial features in an attempt to make photo editing faster and more powerful. The technology can remove some of the drudgery of photo editing, picking out portions of an image pixel by pixel.

The new technology is available in Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and the smartphone versions of the photo cataloging and editing software, the company said Tuesday at its Max conference. The new tools for selecting objects and people expand earlier AI tools that select subjects and skies.

Adobe’s new AI scene analysis technology shows how fast artificial intelligence technology is advancing to speed up tasks once completely out of reach of computers. AI, trained to spot patterns after examining huge amounts of real-world data, behaves much more like human brains, escaping the confines of rigidly programmed if-this-then-that instructions. AI is revolutionizing everything from detecting fraud to generating art.

Analyzing photos is one of the earliest successes of AI technology. Training data, carefully labeled to spotlight pupils, lips, eyebrows, hair, clothes or other features, can teach an AI model to isolate elements of a photo that you might want to brighten, whiten or otherwise spruce up.

The 2022 MLB playoffs are rolling along as the American League and National League Championship Series pass their off days and hit their respective final stretches. Whereas after two games the Phillies and Padres were tied in the NLCS, over in the American League the Astros took the first two games of their best-of-seven series with the Yankees. This stunning documentary explores the cultural and scientific impacts meteorites and craters have had on Earth. It’s complicated but compelling stuff. The film interviews people like Norwegian jazz guitarist Jon Larsen, who describes the feeling of holding a micrometeorite: “No human being has ever touched anything older.

Sometimes, after a long day dealing with enemies fuming about your status as heir or questioning your kids’ legitimacy, all you want to do is kick back and relax with a stiff drink.

What would House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy’s character, the ever-pressed Princess Raenerya, imbibe? You’re probably already familiar with the answer.

In a video posted to HBO Max’s TikTok account on Oct. 1., D’Arcy revealed their drink of choice to co-star Olivia Cooke, who plays Queen Alicent. “A negroni … sbagliato … with prosecco in it,” D’Arcy says with playful pauses in between. “Oh, stunning,” Cooke replies.

The internet has deemed the clip, which has 1.5 million likes as of this writing, as scorching as dragon’s breath. D’Arcy’s voice, in particular, is getting a lot of attention, with users calling it “so soothing” and liking it to “extremely expensive” aged wine.

“The way they said ‘with prosecco in it’ made me melt,” one commenter wrote.
