Meta Connect’s VR, AR and Metaverse Conference: How to Watch on Tuesday

Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg bets you’ll be hearing the word “metaverse” a lot in the next few years, and his company’s big virtual reality and augmented reality event Tuesday will be a big part of why.

The social media giant is betting so much on the metaverse that last year it renamed itself Meta, after the virtual worlds where people can meet up with strangers, friends and family. The question now is whether anyone else will want to join up.

This year, Zuckerberg is planning to show off his company’s latest VR headseta device designed for professional use rather than the somewhat popular $400 Meta Quest device for everyday consumers. Meta is also likely to announce a series of new apps and partnerships, as it has in previous years when showing off new games and experiences meant to entity people to try its devices.

Zuckerberg may have other surprises up his sleeve. Last year, the company formerly known as Facebook surprised the tech world with its sudden rebranding.
